PRP Therapy for Hair Loss: What You Should Know

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP is an innovative, autologous medical treatment—meaning it uses the patient's own blood cells to promote tissue repair and regeneration. Platelets contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors, which are essential for cellular repair, collagen synthesis, and blood vessel formation.

The Extraction Process

The procedure is highly scientific and sterile:

  1. Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is drawn into a specialized tube.
  2. Centrifugation: The tube is spun in a high-speed centrifuge to separate the blood into layers: red blood cells, platelet-poor plasma, and platelet-rich plasma (the golden fluid).
  3. Activation: The highly concentrated platelet layer is extracted for targeted micro-injections into the scalp.

How PRP Stimulates Hair Regrowth

When injected into the scalp, PRP growth factors diffuse into the hair follicle bases. This stimulates cell division, increases blood circulation, and reverses follicle miniaturization, transitioning dormant follicles back into the active growing phase to improve hair density.
