Understanding Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation is a surgical hair restoration procedure that moves healthy hair follicles from a donor area (usually the back of the head) to a recipient area experiencing baldness. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the modern standard, extracting individual follicles under local anesthesia.
Key Suitability Criteria
- Donor Hair Density: Candidates must have healthy, dense donor hair at the back of the scalp. If the donor area is sparse, there won't be enough grafts to cover the balding zones.
- Stabilized Hair Loss: The candidate's hair loss pattern should ideally be stabilized. Transplanting hair during active, rapid shedding can lead to unnatural patches behind the transplanted hairline.
- Realistic Expectations: Transplantation restores coverage and density but does not create new hair. It redistributes existing hair follicles.
An in-depth clinical consultation and trichoscopy evaluation are essential to determine if a hair transplant is the right path for your hair restoration journey.
